Inge Southcott taught me for five years (2016 -2021), and during this time, she helped me vastly improve my voice and musicianship. As soon as I began my vocal education with her, I exceeded my musical expectations and succeeded massively. Throughout our lessons, Inge encouraged and helped me get into the National Choral School, which led to my selection into a specially curated choir that toured England and Germany and performed at the Berlin Philharmonie with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. Locally, Inge has supported me in the Armidale Eisteddfod and helped me through the HSC, which was a massive effort thanks to COVID. Above all, Inge fosters a deep love and appreciation for music in her singing lessons. Thanks to her, I, and many children, teenagers, and adults have had the opportunity to truly appreciate the wonders of singing……………….. Mauatua Fa’ara Reynolds…..27.1.2022
Both my children have had years of singing lessons with Inge. My son, Hanu, freshly out of the HSC, began singing with Inge while he was at UNE and since then too. Her steady support and encouragement was fabulous. My daughter Mauatua began around the same time, and has just successfully finished her HSC despite the difficulties of COVID. During those times, Inge adapted with Zoom lessons. Inge's continued enthusiasm and engagement with my daughter was a pivotal reason for her success and fabulous marks. I am so grateful, Inge, for the love you put into teaching and the way you prepare your students for their performances. I am so grateful for the contact we have had with you these past years. You are one of Armidale's treasures. ........Pauline Reynolds 26.1.2022 Inge really inspired and nurtured a love and passion for classical singing within me. She exposed me to great vocal repertoire from musical theatre, to art song and opera. She gave me a solid foundation for language learning, provided opportunities for eisteddfods, examinations, auditions and most importantly always inspired and encouraged me with my singing. I felt so supported by her and this gave me a confidence in preparation but also in my performance abilities. As Inge has an extensive medical background her deep knowledge of vocal anatomy provides her with a unique specialty in vocal pedagogy as she personalises vocal lessons teaching healthy and exciting vocal technique. Some of my best memories are associated with Inge and my music training with her, I wouldn’t be where I am today graduating with a Bachelor of Music Performance in Classical voice at the Queensland Conservatorium if it weren’t for Inge. She has helped me to pursue my dreams…………. Dakotah Love 16.10.21 Inge was my son Max's first singing teacher - (he started age 7) and she very quickly recognised and nurtured his deep love for music. Through her tuition, she sparked a passion for classical music that continues to this day. From providing Max with performance opportunities, instilling the importance of good technique and encouraging him to learn piano to broaden his musical understanding, we couldn't have asked for a better start to Max's journey with music. Although we have moved interstate and Inge is no longer Max's teacher, she remains genuinely interested in his achievements and continues to offer her encouragement and support for his ambition to become a professional musician. When asked, Max said that Inge provided him with 'courage' and 'joy'. Thank you Inge. .................................Natasha Junge 21.10.21 I began singing lessons with Inge Southcott while finishing high school in Armidale. Inge was a very supportive teacher, giving me not only a secure vocal technique but also extending my musicianship and skills as a performer. With her encouragement and guidance I went on to study at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. I am now completing a Master of Early Music at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, appearing in concert with ensembles such as the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century and the Symphonie Atlantique.....Bethany Shepherd 29.11.14 In my years (2004-2008) of vocal tuition with Inge Southcott, I expanded my knowledge of vocal pedagogy and broadened my understanding of the diversity of repertoire the vocal world has to offer. I was given a taste of learning works in other languages, whilst consolidating vocal, breathing and body technique. I believe Inge gave me a foundation, which put me in the right direction in order to study at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music......... Sam Payne……… 17.9.14 |
PROFESSIONAL ENDORSEMENT "
"It has been my pleasure to work with Inge in a variety of roles. As a singer Inge is always thoroughly prepared, her research is deep and underpinned by a continuous desire for challenge and an ability to adapt to the present needs. As a singing teacher Inge’s students are well prepared, confident and share an inquiring nature that leads them to different and broad paths of experience.
